In 1982, Christine and Joël Ménard settled in Rablay-sur-Layon - just outside Angers, France. Because the Ménards are one of those ‘dare and try’ winegrowers they converted very early – in 1996 – to organic farming, then to biodynamics. Their son Jérémy is gradually taking over the succession and they make it a point of honor to refuse any chaptalisation (addition of sugar) or any oenological manipulation. Today, all the cuvées are under the Vin de France appellation. An act of activism to continue to make wines as they see fit, as much as possible from the terroir.
